Each year, Catholic Charities provides services for nearly 70,000 people in need in Alpine, Calaveras, Mono, San Joaquin, Stanislaus, and Tuolumne counties - the geographic area of the Diocese of Stockton. Our programs and services help people in every stage of life - children, youth, families, and elders.
The Mother Lode offices are located at 14855 Mono Way, Suite #101 in Sonora.

Ten Tips to Help You Reduce the Risk of Financial Elder Abuse

Behavioral Health Services
As an extension of the Bishop’s Social Justice Ministry, the Catholic Charities Behavioral Health Program provides behavioral health outreach and engagement to elderly and dependent adults and family members residing in long-term care facilities and the community.

Elder Abuse Prevention Program
The Elder Abuse Prevention Program was created to educate the public about the physical, emotional and financial abuse of our seniors. Outreach efforts include presentations and training sessions for Certified Nursing Assistants, facility staff, clergy, service organizations, financial institutions and other mandated reporters. Topics include mandated reporting procedures, identity theft, scams and other abusive situations which victimize seniors and other dependent adults.
Legal Advocacy Program
Free legal advocacy for adults 60 years and older is provided by the Legal Advocacy Program. Services include assistance with wills, landlord or renter issues, problems with contractors, fraud, and other legal issues.

Ombudsman Program
The Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program advocates for the rights and quality care for residents of skilled nursing facilities, residential care facilities for the elderly, and those who attend adult day health care programs.
Immigration Legal Services
Family Reunification
Provides assistance to immigrants through low-cost professional and confidential immigration counseling and legal immigration services leading to family reunification.
Naturalization
Provides low cost consultations, legal counseling, and tutoring services to assist legal permanent residents achieve US citizenship. These services are provided by two case consultants accredited by the Board of Immigration Appeals.
